FAQ

1. How does Petriot.com determine that a product is “Made in USA”?

Petriot.com only sells products that are made in the United States, following our mission to help Americans support Americans. In determining a product’s origin, we rely on the Federal Trade Commission’s standard, which states that:

For a product to be called Made in USA, or claimed to be of domestic origin without qualifications or limits on the claim, the product must be "all or virtually all" made in the U.S. … "All or virtually all" means that all significant parts and processing that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. That is, the product should contain no — or negligible — foreign content. (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/business/adv/bus03.shtm)

2. Does “virtually all” mean that some products sold on Petriot are partially manufactured in other countries?

We live in an age of a truly globalized economy, and it is nearly impossible to find a product that is made entirely within any single country. As we strive to promote the growth of American business and American production, we must also recognize our place in the greater world market.

To offer a portfolio of products that wholly excludes the contributions of other countries is to isolate ourselves, restricting opportunity for Americans to participate in the global economy. We wish to put Americans back to work as members of a nation that is part of the global community – a nation that is a leader in the global community. As a result, some of the products may include parts that are manufactured abroad, but those parts must be negligible for the product to bear the “Made in USA” standard.

3. How does Petriot safeguard against illegitimate claims of “Made in USA”?

Petriot takes very seriously the need to ensure that all products from our Sellers are in fact American-made. The “Made in USA” label is the heart of our business, and we take any intentional abuse of this claim as an insult to ourselves and to our country.

We make every effort to validate our Sellers initially, and we strive to monitor them afterwards. In addition, we rely on our customers to help enforce this policy. Claims regarding Seller fraud or mistake may also be submitted to customersupport@petriot.com so that we may investigate further.

4. Is Petriot.com affiliated with any political party or movement?

No, Petriot is not affiliated with any political party or any other interest group. We are here to support the basic principals upon which our country was founded and to provide an opportunity for American business to grow.

5. Does it cost money to become a Seller on Petriot.com?

It is completely FREE to sign up as a Seller on Petriot.com. Our arrangement with Sellers is to earn a sales commission on purchases made through our site – so we only generate revenue by helping our Sellers generate revenue. Petriot’s commission fee (12%) is lower than rates offered by our competitors, allowing Petriot’s Sellers to retain a higher profit. In turn, this allows our Sellers to offer better prices to consumers and thus more effectively compete with foreign products.

6. Do Sellers need to be formal business entities to sell on Petriot.com?

Yes, each Seller is required to be a legitimately formed business under one of the 50 states, no exceptions. As a result, we can better ensure a certain standard of excellence for our customers and we can guarantee that our Sellers are in fact American businesses.

7. Does Petriot.com produce any of its own products?

No, other than promotional items, Petriot does not produce any products of its own. Petriot is a service company, providing a platform for American businesses to reach American consumers. We are here to promote both new and pre-existing American businesses and help them grow.

8. Why can’t I purchase books, CD’s, or movies on Petriot.com?

It is often difficult to classify the origin of these media because of the numerous factors involved. Sometimes the artists/actors/authors are of American origin, while the other parties involved (producers, manufacturers, and owners) are not, or vice versa. For this reason, we regrettably do not retail any books, CD’s, or movies.
